Who are we?

Every day after school and all summer long, we provide a safe and caring Club experience for children between the ages of 6 and 18, at no or little cost to their families. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County, we believe that every child should be empowered to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives.

Our Mission:

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Our Vision:

Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Our Project

Since 1990, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County has fulfilled its mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Annually, our Opelika Clubhouse serve close to 1,000 youth through membership and community outreach – simply put, when School is out, the Club is in!

Out-of-school-time programming is an important resource to ensure all students have access to enriching experiences – even during the summer that reinforce foundational academic skills and encourage the development of vital 21st century skills.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County is in the unique position to positively influence the youth who need us most. We look forward to the opportunity to expand our Summer Learning programming so the young people in Opelika have additional tools and resources to combat mitigating circumstances without the added financial burden on already stretched budgets.

With the support of the Opelika community, we will not only help young people become more effective and engaged learners who are on track to graduate with a plan for the future, but we will also offer high-quality Summer Learning experiences, so youth have an opportunity to fall in love with learning, discover and pursue their passions, and prepare to be leaders.

Summer Brain Gain Overview:

  • Targeted program that offers 6+ weeks of developmentally appropriate classic project-based learning as well as modules with a STEM or literacy focus.
  • Modules integrate career exploration so that youth have opportunities to be exposed to a variety of careers, identify their interests, participate in hands-on experiences, and interact with industry professionals to learn from their experiences.
  • Sessions developed in conjunction with a task-force of local Club staff resulting in activities that are engaging, adaptable, and easy to expand into a comprehensive, theme-based summer camp experience.
